The workshop Vedica Neapolitana took place during the first week of October 2012 in Procida, Naples. The excellence of the teacher as well as the dedication and liveliness of all participants and speakers made this an exciting learning experience. To all of them our deepest gratitude. 

Vedica Neapolitana - A Vedic Workshop in Italy

Procida (Naples), 1st-6th October 2012

Vedica Neapolitana is a six-day workshop (1^st-6^th October 2012) on Vedic and Indo-Iranian Studies, hosted by the University of Naples «L’Orientale» and taking place in Procida (Naples). The event, organized by a small group of scholars (see: Organizing Committee), mainly focuses on the reading of Vedic poetry and prose; morning classes will be led by dr. Werner Knobl (University of Kyoto). The daily schedule of the workshop also includes an afternoon lecture series in which experts in the field will contribute: Prof. Giorgio Banti (University of Naples «L’Orientale»), Ms. Kristen De Joseph (University of Leiden), Prof. Bill M. Mak (Kyoto University), Prof. Rosa Ronzitti (Università per Stranieri di Siena), Prof. Adriano Rossi (University of Naples «L’Orientale»), Prof. Velizar Sadovski (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Wien). All classes and lectures will be in English.

The workshop is mostly aimed at young scholars and advanced students of Sanskrit, as well as specialists in the field of Linguistics who wish to improve and/or share their knowledge of Vedic and Indo-Iranian Studies.


The venue is the conference centre of the University of Naples «L’Orientale», on the picturesque island of Procida.

At the end of the workshop, every participant will receive a certificate which will indicate the amount of awarded ECTS credits; responsible for accrediting the latter are the participants' home Universities.
